Let the next Giant Thwomp smash the blocks, then take the lower path. Duck and wait for it to smash again before exiting that area. When you get to the Giant Thwomp, let it smash the blocks before you retrieve the second Star Coin. Avoid the Thwomps by waiting to move until they've already attempted to squash you and are returning upwards. Jump across the next group of cogs and activate the midway flag. Jump back on to the upper cog, and ride it reach the first bonus room.
Continue, hitting the ? Block to release a Super Mushroom or Ice Flower.
Jump into the next set of cogs, staying in the indentation to avoid being crushed. Drop down onto the cog, then jump into the Star Coin, landing on the platform with a Dry Bones. Then jump onto a high platform and collect the coins on it. Cross another cog, then jump on one of the spokes on the next cog and ride it up. Continue jumping from geyser to geyser, making the jump off of the final geyser big enough to reach the Flagpole.Jump across the cog, then hit the ? Block for a Super Mushroom or Ice Flower. Pick up the shell and throw it to the right to collect the third Star Coin. When the Paratroopa is hovering over a geyser, jump on him until he turns into a shell. Hit the first ? Block for a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower and jump onto the first geyser. Navigate over a Piranha Plant, and use careful timing to dodge the three Piranha Plants in the next section. Jump back onto the geyser and continue on. Dodge the Piranha Plant, then walk off of the sand geyser into the second Star Coin. Use the next set of geysers to jump on or over the Paratroopa. Jump high to dodge the Boomerang Bro and activate the midway flag. They will be especially difficult to dodge in the next section of geysers because they are being spawned out of a Warp Pipe. Continue, dodging the Goombas as they come at you. Ride up the next geyser to the first Star Coin. Move onto the platform, then jump to the next platform when the geyser has disappeared. Hit for a Super Mushroom or a Fire Flower. Jump on the geyser, then continue on to the next set. The sand geysers will appear and disappear on a set cycle, and you know that on is about to appear if a puff of sand appears at the bottom of the screen. Watch out for the Koopa Troopa on the first sand geyser.
